Trusting God to change Lives
Home Of Family Warmth
Established in 1995 by starting in a foster parent training program, we are a Christian home created to provide a stable, Christian environment with unconditional love for young girls who, for one reason or another, cannot live with their parents or guardians.
Most of our girls have had traumatic experiences in their life and need healing because of rape, incest, abandonment, self-mutilation, molestation, cults, drugs or alcohol or discipline problems. Our home has no maximum time limits and the girls may stay with us for as long as they desire and we have space available. We do however have a minimum of eighteen to twenty four months for their stay. If however, the girls continue to have issues that affect their lives, we may continue her stay until age 18. We operate our ministry out of our 7-bedroom Home on three beautifully wooded acres; however our vision is to operate several homes on additional acreage staffed with Christian, God-given parents. There is little charge for our ministry from Home of Family Warmth other than attorney’s fees. However as we operate with a Court Appointed Managing Conservator ship Order, the Court may/will require a minimum child support payments. We rely on support from individuals, churches, organizations, foundations and corporations. We are not funded by any government entity, which allows Jesus Christ to be present as the healer to our girls. As such we rely on God’s provisions for their personal and school needs.
EDUCATION
We desire to immerse our girls in Christianity, thereby allowing God’s healing grace to minister to them. Unlike many organizations, our desire is to heal from within and allow God to change hearts rather than recommending a “program.” We attend church services every Sunday at Dayspring Christian Fellowship, New Braunfels, Texas and the girls participate in Youth services, AWANA at the church as well and Bible study. We home school the girls for their entire educational needs for as long as they are with us. Home school also allows us the flexibility of schedule as well as adding in educational Life Skills programs and projects as well as Bible Study Fellowship. We believe that our “God given daughters” have experienced too much of life to risk losing them further in large public schools.
For girls who show aptitude and a desire to attend a college or university, we have been able to obtain scholarships, grants or loans for all or the majority of their annual expenses. We continue to obligate ourselves for a portion of their clothing and personal expenses, as well as a vehicle if possible, while in college, except for expenses on a “want” rather than a “need” basis. COUNSELING
We offer counseling through a Christian Biblical counselor, as well as a healing and deliverance ministry. All our girls are encouraged to attend counseling sessions when they first arrive and frequently thereafter as the need arises or continues. Because of the trauma they have experienced and the habits they have established, the girls have developed countless strongholds that, until broken, will continue to hinder their ability to form lasting relationships, mental stability and a sense of self worth and confidence.
God, through this Home, has shown me what family is. MEDICAL CARE
In the event of emergency medical care, not only are we trained in CPR/1st Aid, Psychotropic Medication Training, Handle with Care Restraint training, we have made arrangements with an Emergency Care Medical Doctor for care outside our norms. Routine medical care is provided through Medicaid and dental treatment is through a caring New Braunfels dentist who has offered his services without charge. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT Recreation and sports contribute to the physical development of the girls. The girls we serve usually come from families or facilities where physical nurturing and developmental activities are lacking and dieting is usually poor. Physical development is part of our overall strategy. It allows for discovery of and development of the individual person. Our girls begin to encounter what their abilities as well as their limitations are. Through this strategy, which includes rollerblading, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, summer camps, etc., they gain strength, self-accomplishment and confidence development. Additionally they develop a sense of competency and camaraderie with others. Here at Home of Family Warmth, God has, through Jerry and Vickie, shown me three main things I would never have imagined having in my life; a strong foundation, a family and a future. WHAT’S AHEAD?
As we continue to grow we will staff our Homes with like-minded Christian families in each home. These families will have a special calling to this ministry and a real burden for our girls. Each family will be responsible for raising their finances just as we and most other missionaries. We have been blessed by the fact that girls who stay with us eighteen months and longer, will usually continue to recover from their strongholds and are able to live a loving, productive life. Without this heart change however, they will continue to repeat their destructive patterns and behavior. Unfortunately because of this, their children as well as their children’s children would continue to retain the generational strongholds and bondage. Although I still struggle with temptations to smoke, drink, do drugs or have sex, I know that God will help me overcome those feelings to want those things. We believe that our home provides a unique ministry to young girls in Texas and throughout America. It is meeting the ever-increasing need for a Christian home environment to deal with the very real problem of abuse and its effect on the lives of young girls. I thank God because He is changing me in every single way, and the people at the Home are influencing me wonderfully. Our Mission Our Mission is to provide a stable, loving Christian environment for young girls who, for one reason or other, cannot live with their parents or guardians. We will provide abundant, unconditional love in a Christian home with defined boundaries, linked with natural and logical consequences which bring positive outcomes. I just want to thank you, not only for letting me eat all your food, but also for taking me into your arms. You guys do and always will have a huge place in my heart. Thank you for all you have done for me. God will surely reward ya’ll in heaven. Our Vision
Our Vision is to provide a multiplex of several homes staffed with Christian, God-given parents to care for three to four girls in each home. We Believe
A statement of faith
We, as a Christian home for girls, consider as true that our catalyst to love and protect young girls, is derived from our belief in and adherence to, God’s Word as stated below:
Be Still and Know
God is always there to hear our plea, if only we would I told them my story & watched them look at me in horror! I had one day left before I had to go to a state girl’s home….I even consider Jerry & Vickie my real parents. Jerry even walked me down the aisle at my wedding. They helped me know what life was really about; not the life I was living before but the life we should be living. They give you everything you’ve craved in having a family.
